I'm finally back after like 1 billion years. You're probably thinking how I'm a big fat liar for saying that I'd blog more frequently but then I disappeared. Let me just explain why. So I was trying to find a good website to watch korean drama (yes korean drama, the thing I've always been insulting)(peer pressure is powerful), and because of that my computer was infected with a virus and it died. I'm a loser I know, but anyways I can't wait to share my Perth trip with you!
DAY 1
Our flight was at 12midnight so we reached Perth at about 5am.
Check out the beautiful sunrise we saw!
Upon collecting our rented car, we headed to our hotel to check in but because our room wouldn't be ready till around 11am, we decided to walk around the neighborhood.
We chanced upon a quaint little cafe selling French pastries and decided to give it a shot since our tummies were growling and there were numerous locals seated in the cafe.
We ordered a vegemite cheese stick, a blueberry peach tart and the best chicken, avocado and tomato stuffed croissant (not pictured) I've ever tried in my life (and I'm not a fan of croissants).
After that we walked to another bakery that I heard about and is pretty well known on Instagram called Chu Bakery. Here's what they sold.
I ordered a matcha yuzu puff and my parents ordered their coffee.
We then walked across the street to Hyde Park where we sat on a bench to admire the gorgeous lilac flowers on the trees and watched the ducks swim in the lake whilst eating. Also I forgot to mention that it was 17 degrees celcius when we arrived in Perth so the warm coffee did us wonders.
Look at how pretty Hyde Park is!
After our slow breakfast, we headed back to the hotel to check in and unloaded our baggage.
And then guess what we did next? We ate again! No surprise. We drove to another cafe on my list of places to visit called Flora and Fauna. It's a vegan cafe and just next door was a burger kiosk so my dad gladly walked over to get himself a burger.
The place was decorated very beautifully, entirely alfresco except the kitchen.
After eating, we went back to the airport to fetch Samuel (my second eldest brother). I forgot to say that only 3 of us (my parents and I) flew off in the morning, Samuel only confirmed he could join us a week before the trip and our flight was already fully booked, thus he had to take a later flight. My eldest brother, Caleb, was in the midst of his exams so he couldn't join us:(
We then headed to a friend's house for dinner and that was it for day 1.
DAY 2
It was Sunday so we went to Fremantle weekend market, or as the locals call it, Freo!
We had some Paella, a Spanish rice dish.
We then had some buffalo wings and a charcoal beef burger at Chimek. It was gooooood.
After leaving the weekend market, we wandered around Fremantle taking many pictures.
Look at this pretty church!
En route to the famous fish & chips, we chanced upon a little secondhand bookstore where Sam bought several cookbooks (he's a chef)(a really good one) and me just taking pictures of everything and anything, what's new.
Oh just me being pretentious.
And my pretty mom.
More pictures otw to Freo Beach to get some fish & chips.
And we finally arrived at the beach!
More pictures!
Hannah why are you always blinking in photos?!??!?? Such a loser.
I was his photographer for the whole trip bleh.
We finally reached the fish&chips stall. There were 3 different stalls selling fish&chips in the vicinity so we decided to try 2 stalls. I forgot to capture the second one but in my opinion they both taste the same. If you ask me I'd just say they taste like fish&chips so don't waste so much time trying to decide which one to go for.
oh look an awkward closeup, thanks mom.
whew look at that golden brown goodness!
Freo pier^
ICE CREAM WUHU (out of focus bc I suck)
We left Freo and went to Sunset Beach (I think that's what it's called) to catch the sunset.
(dad putting in so much effort to use the selfie stick he forgot to smile)
By 5.30pm most of the shops were closed so we didn't have much to do at night, we decided to buy kebabs and roamed the streets which were almost empty at 6pm. It was however rather comforting to eat the warm kebab as the icy cold wind brushed against our cheeks.
DAY 3
dad woke up early to golf with his friend while we slept in till about 9am. The 3 of us then walked over to that same little cafe we ate at on the first day to have their legendary croissant again.
mom and I then further explored the neighborhood while Sam went back to the apartment to use the wifi.
The flowers in Perth were so stunning!
We went to Cavershem Wildlife Paark on day 3.
He was trying to kiss me! jk it was trying to eat my hair.
wombat!!!
We weren't supposed to go so close to the koalas but #rebels
LOOK AT CUTE LITTLE JOEY!!!
We then went shopping at a mall but we didn't manage to get anything because everything was closing, and it was only 5.30pm!!!!
go vanity!
For dinner, we settled for an Italian(?) restaurant (or was it fusion)(idk). My parents and I had burgers while Sam had beef ribs.
We headed to Max Brenner Chocolate Bar next door for desserts and it was goOoooOOoooooOd
DAY 4
We left Perth City early the next morning and drove 2 hours to Margaret River. On the way there, my dad saw a field of wild flowers and immediately pulled over along the highway and we all got down to take pictures. We're so shameless, we'd do anything to get a nice photo.
We checked into our lodge the moment we arrived at Margaret River and right after that we went to a cafe in the middle of the woods beside a berry farm.
While waiting for our food, we went to take more pictures in the backyard of the cafe.
The reason why we chose this place to lunch at was because the locals said that the birds would come to your table and eat with you. The cafe prepares jam and cream for the birds and you could bring some to your table so they would fly to you! They also said that a rare blue bird often goes there to dine.
Here's Sam talking to a bird. (dat ass tho)
The birds wouldn't come to us if we held the container of jam and cream so Sam conveniently dipped his finger into the jam and cream and guess what?! It worked, the birds ate from his finger!
The food took quite a while to arrive but the moment we sank out teeth into the food, the feeling of slight frustration due to the long wait instantly disappeared. THE FOOD WAS VERY VERY VERY VERY GOOD. We ordered a red wine beef pot pie, pesto and cheese roll, and the fresh catch of the day which was salmon. Looks can be SO deceiving, it doesn't look a single bit impressive but I promise you it is, especially the beef pot pie.
We ordered their boysenberry pie and carrot cake with ginger and both were simply divine. The portions were HUGE too.
More stunning flowers!
I love that place!
After lunch, we went to a beach again recommended by the locals, to feed some eagle rays. Yes to feed some WILD EAGLE RAYS wutttttt???!?!?!?! The locals taught us to get some frozen fish bait from the supermarket to lure the rays and it worked!
It was soooooooo windy
We then headed to see the lighthouse but it was already closed by the time we got there so we could only see it from afar:(
For dinner we had fast food because everything was closed but it was pretty tasty: )
DAY 5
First stop was a waterfall, (which dried up because it was summer)(but it was freezing cold?so idk) what a disappointment.
Second stop, the earliest settler's home. (And a random beach)
It was soooooooo windy!!!!!
what's this? Another awkward closeup? Thanks dad.
It was drizzling, hence the hood.
Third stop was a mammoth cave. It was a self-guided tour and I learnt a lot of things!
I look sweaty and gross but that's because of the flash, it was FREEZING inside the cave I was dying.
How amazing that this whole thing 'grew' naturally just like how trees grow, every single detail was moulded by God Himself, it's His splendid work of art!
After visiting the cave, our itinerary was to visit random plantations and factories for some tasting.
We went to a Venison farm and there we tried several types of meat including crocodile meat which was really tasty so we bought some home. We also bought some venison steaks for our last-night-in-perth-must-yolo barbecue dinner.
The lady at the venison farm recommended us to eat at Cheeky Monkey Brewery for lunch so that's where we headed afterwards.
To be honest, other than the spicy wings, the food wasn't anything to shout about, the ambience was nice though.
Thereafter, we went to a vineyard for some wine tasting. It was absolutely beautiful.
We then went to a chocolate factory for some chocolate tasting and got ourselves some chocolate berry ice cream! It was extremely rich and toothsome!
After that we went to a cheese factory where we all hated the cheese yucks.
We then went to another random beach because all the factories were closing. Sam spotted this lizard camouflaged in a shallow hole in the ground, fortunately we didn't step on it.
Me photographing Sam
Headed back to our lodge for our last-night-in-perth-must-yolo barbecue dinner
I told you he's a cook.
These pictures make me look sweaty and the food look disgusting but that's again because of the flash, it was freezing cold and the food was delish!
DAY 6
Last day in Perth,
here's a picture of our lodge.
After checking out of our lodge, we went to another cheese factory, their cheese were much better than the first factory's cheese. The first one we tried wasn't very nice though, hence our faces.
We then left Margaret River and on the way back to Perth City, we stopped by Busselton town. We visited Busselton Jetty, the longest jetty in the Southern Hemisphere. It had a train on it!
We had lunch at Red Rooster and desserts at some random cafe we drove past.
sorry about my shirt, i wasn't intentional.
(omg I'm almost done, what a relief)
We ordered a cronut, an orange peel cake and a salted caramel slice.
At the airport: (
I'm eternally grateful for everything God blesses me with, this trip was almost impossible due to all our busy schedules but knowing the desires of my heart, God grants me what I always wish for, what I always work hard for throughout the year, He let me travel:') TYJ!
