On 6 September 2015...

Hello again!

When I said I was going to blog more frequently, I really meant what I said, here's another blogpost: ) I'll try to make it less lengthy unlike my previous post.

Today, Briana and I became explorers!!! Right after church we headed to Nicoll Highway and walked over to North Bridge Road area where we ate at Zam Zam, an Indian eatery which is pretty well-known for their Nasi Briyani. Since Briana told me a few weeks back that she can't seem to find good Briyani except for the one sold in school, we decided to give this place a try.

Zam Zam

We both ordered the Chicken Briyani ($6.50), the portion was HUGE and it also came with a plate of mutton curry which we didn't touch because..meh. It was kind of pricey, $6.50 for a plate of briyani..I guess it's because the place is rather commercialised so many tourists go there and we all know that tourist attractions are just places you get major rip offs. Nevertheless, the amount of chicken they gave us was astounding! I had a whole chicken thigh and I think Bree half a chicken?!!?

After that we walked to Bali lane which was just a few lanes down across the road in search for an ice cream place I saw on Instagram called Honey Comb to beat the scorching heat but we found out that they closed down. We were so disappointed and had no clue on what to do next but that's when I remembered a soft serve place nearby which I again saw on Instagram called Brother Bird.

Brother Bird

We ordered the cookie butter soft serve and IT WAS SO GOOD. The moment both of us tried it we confirmed that we were definitely going back again.
 As usual, pre-eating routine^

After that we walked around aimlessly, exploring new places and taking many photos: )
This was the only photo taken today of both of us because it's so hard to ask strangers to take a photo for us without being judged for our weird location choices. This photo for example, the man asked us why don't we face the other side so the mosque would be the background, but we already had how we wanted the picture to look like in mind so we declined and he and his friends laughed: (

Really happy I finally bought some dried lavender!!! Smells so good!!!

Here are some awkward shots of me taken by Bree: )

We ended the day at Suntec City (yes we walked all the way there), where we got a drink, edited photos and enjoyed the air conditioner and free wifi, somehow our outings are always filled with walking and ends with us editing photos. I had a splendid day, time spent with Briana is always so enjoyable: )

Thanks for stopping by!

On 26 August 2015...

Hey: )

WARNING: THIS IS A VERY LENGTHY BLOGPOST, SORRY!!!!

Since it's the start of the September holidays, I'll give myself a break from studying and blog! So last Wednesday I went for my doctor's appointment which I absolutely dread going to because all they do is tell me the exact same thing that they told me the previous appointment and just like that we have to pay $60 for practically listening to the annoying doctor's nagging. I really hope my condition gets better so such daylight robberies will stop occurring: (

On the bright side, such appointments often result in scrumptious meals with mom. (aka my queen)
We both knew what was coming up after the appointment so we had light lunch and thus had plenty of space for 3 cafes worth of food. (we are extremely big eaters when it comes to our favourite food hehe)

Wilder

First up we went to Wilder, a pretty new cafe along North Bridge Road that I found stalking well-known foodies on Instagram. The place was quite small so thankfully we went early when there was no crowd. It was however beautifully decorated with dried flowers on every table and I loved the rustic theme of the cafe.

Here's our food, I ordered the Smoked Salmon Spicy Tomato Cream Pasta to satisfy my newly-found love for smoked salmon and my mom ordered Wilder's Beef Burger.

The portions were quite small which was good beacause then we could try other places on my places-to-go-b4-i-die list (yes the list really do exist on my phone). The juicy beef burger served with potato taters was great! The soft homemade bun (made to a limited number per day) was the highlight of it. Never knew the burger bun could make so much difference to a burger!!

Here's my Smoked Salmon Tomato Cream Pasta: )

Super pretty place!!!

Overall, Wilder is definitely a place worth visiting with great food and friendly staff, I wouldn't mind at all going back for a second visit!

We knew that the North Bridge Road area was densely packed with hidden treasures so we decided to walk along the shophouses to explore and see what treasures we would find. We stepped out of Wilder and before long, guess what? We found Twenty Grammes! A waffle place found on my list of places to go before I die!!

Twenty Grammes

We ordered their SG50 special (only for a limited time only), charcoal waffles with salted egg yolk sauce along with a scoop of earl grey flavoured ice cream and famous amos cookies ice cream.
 Here's my lovely mom: )

She asked me to take a selfie so we would remember the moment hehe

Now here's my honest opinion, I didn't like the salted egg yolk sauce but my mom liked it so it's probably just an acquired taste that not everyone would like. The charcoal waffle looked cool but it tasted no different from any other buttermilk waffle, I liked the crispiness though. The ice cream on the other hand, was super flavor-full, I LOVED the earl grey flavored one, unlike others I've tried, the earl grey taste was very distinct and it wasn't very milky which is a plus point since I hate the taste of milk. I therefore wouldn't mind coming back for their ice cream, but as for their waffles, it isn't the worst, it's alright if you just want your simple waffle fix but there are definitely better ones I've tried.

Nope this blogpost is still not coming to an end because Hannah and mom are such gluttons. I knew of a place that sold cakes from Maple & Market, a well-known cafe that sold cakes at their own shop and also to other vendors. their shop was only located 5 mins away from my house and I visited them very often. Unfortunately, they closed down early this year. I was devastated as I already planned to work there after my O's but now my dreams are shattered: ( So when I found out about this cafe that Maple & Market supplies cakes to, I rejoiced, told my mom and we rejoiced together!!!

The Pantry at Shop Wonderland

How did I find out that Maple & Market supplies them with cake? Well I've been to Maple & Market countless times before they closed down so I recognized their unique flavors like the Lemon Lavender cake and Gula Melaka cake with Kaya Cream Cheese and I missed eating them soooooo much so of course I was elated at the news of The Pantry carrying their cakes.

Man I wished I had space left in my stomach to order all their cakes out on display that day. My love for cakes is unhealthy.

Check out the beautiful interior!!! Another photogenic place with dried flowers hanging everywhere!!!

They sold other things too such as cards, candles, soaps from overseas, etc.

The place was located in a shop house along Haji Lane so we sat upstairs beside the huge window for obvious reasons (natural lighting) and this was our view^
The staff was extremely friendly and she said she remembered us from that time we stumbled upon it while walking around aimlessly to digest our food. That was weeks ago, her memory is amazing!!

It was tough resisting the temptation to order 3 cakes but we fought it and in the end ordered 2 cakes, the Gula Melaka cake with Kaya Cream Cheese frosting (Maple & Market's!!!) and the Salted Caramel cake.

 Pre-eating routine: )

Super pretty!!!!!

I'm most definitely going back for more cakes, even though the pricing of their cakes are almost twice that of what Maple & Market's cakes used to be, I guess it's alright to indulge once in a while: )
